Impact strength
Measure of resistance to fracture when a sudden force is applied.
Initiator (starter)
A substance with which ethylene oxide or propylene oxide reacts to form a polyether polyol.
Injection point
The point at which a polyurethane reaction mixture is inserted into a mould cavity.
IPDI
An abbreviation for isophorone diisocyanate and 1-isocyanato-3-isocyanatomethyl-3,5,5-trimethylcyclohexane.
Isocyanate
A substance containing an isocyanate (-N =C=O) group. A polyisocyanate contains more than one isocyanate group.
Isocyanurate
A trimeric reaction product of an isocyanate having the ring structure. Isocyanurates are characterised by their good thermal stability.
Isomers
Molecules of the same atomic composition and molecular weight but of different geometric configuration.
