Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals
REACH is one of the most complex and far-reaching chemical regulations ever adopted by European legislature.
Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and the Council concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals entered into force on 1 June 2007.
The legislation requires industry to mitigate the risks from chemicals by providing information on their properties and risks, and registering that data with a central agency.
The goal is to provide a greater level of protection for people and the environment. This is to be achieved by ensuring that, within the European market, proper information on chemical handling, storage and make-up is readily available, together with risk management measures, if appropriate.
Consistently with the Responsible Care® code of Product Stewardship, BorsodChem remains fully engaged in the implementation of REACH, and is working closely with its customers and suppliers to ensure a smooth transition. For its isocyanates product line, together with
ISOPA
and
International Isocyanate Institute
, BorsodChem is anticipating and reacting to a variety of issues raised by REACH Regulation.
To prepare and ensure compliance with REACH, BorsodChem has established a dedicated REACH integration team to coordinate and integrate activities across the Corporation’s business lines.
